For those of you who have been wondering --
and have kept checking back here to find nothing posted.....

This one's for you!!!!

It has been quite an amazing couple of weeks...
Pam & I are doing so much better.
We have changed our schedule around, gotten some medical help, and I think that has helped tremendously.

Also I've figured out that I ought not take ,at face value, the things I am hearing from the nurse.  Though she has seen many people go through the Hospice process and she has to observe and document all of the decline of the patient(s).  (Darn govt bean counters - look at that four lettered word, it's not what it looks like in three letters!)  Anyway, turns out that if a patient does not show signs of 'decline', they are kicked off the Hospice program -- so Anna has to document each and every little thing.  It becomes hard when she talks about what the next steps are and makes me think that those signs will turn into our reality any moment/day now....

Meantime, Gma can
* still get around (albeit slowly and getting slower).
* still get out of her bed and chair (but needing a bit more help with the chairs)
* has (at times) memory troubles
--- but ---
remains incredibly cheerful and upbeat, each day, over everything...

Thus, We remain ...

Pam & I are getting help from several sources...

So, after checking with several (or a few) places regarding costs for Gma to get the help that she will need (and deserve) in final days, we can get her into a facility for a month at full care.
What I am thinking is that Gma won't give up until she has a really big, bad fall that will require the heavy-duty pain meds (that she abhors the thought of taking).

She did have a bit of a fall a couple of weeks ago (spent half the night on the floor)...  She wouldn't push her (call for help) button...  Since then she has had to have bed baths.  But, today she was able to get into the tub for a full, water over her head type of bath, and got out again! It seems she wills herself to recover after she has any problem(s)...

Ok, well enough for now....

:-)

Thanks for the updates. Glad you and Pam are doing better. Is Grandma going into a facility now or later "when needed?"
