----------------------

You will note that Gma's stats really haven't changed over the last 6 months or more.

In talking with Anna today, it looks like Gma will be discharged from Hospice, probably in early to mid Sept...

The tumor appears to have walled itself off from the rest of her body.  It continues to grow ever-so-slightly, but Gma is not showing any other real signs of the cancer doing her much harm.

On his last visit, the Hospice Docter talked about Congestive Heart Failure being the problem that might take Gma to the other side.  Since Gma was admitted to the program under 'cancer', she will need to be discharged.  When she shows severe signs of Heart Failure, she *could possibly* be returned to the care of Hospice.

In the meantime,  I have been exhausted and can no longer give Gma the care that she will require as she continues to age. The nurse spoke quite plainly and directly to me that she has seen cases where the Care-Giver becomes disabled, sometimes becoming a Hospice patient.   It seems about half of the time of her visit today was related to my health...

So, I will be looking at locations and programs that may be available to care for her (Gma).   (Besides, there are just some things that boys ought not have to do to their Mom...)

The nurse says that the way Gma is going now, she *might/could* live for another 1-3 years, with assistance.

Gma seems to thrive when she goes to Sunshine Terrace... The care, the meals, the friends she's made, the activities that are available --- seems to enliven her.  How to financially care for her is a question -- and I am NOT soliciting for funds....  Selling her home, possessions and property should be sufficient to cover her future expenses.  After she is destitute, then Medicaid should kick in....  There will be the *final* expenses that will be needed to close out her estate.  Again, NOT asking for anything here...  Just hoping that all will take care of itself...

Meantime -- Gma remains cheerful...
:-)

I'm sure I could write more details... But this is a lot....

Duane, you have served the whole family by taking care of Gma the way you have. Saying thank you is not enough. I support you in the decisions you have to make and pray for wisdom as you do so. Do take care of yourself as well. Love and prayers!
