I have been rather derelict in reporting how Gma is doing after her stay at Sunshine Terrace... It was a good rest for me (Duane) -- not enough, but a good start.
--
If Gma was 100% (comparative) when she went in on Monday, When I got her home I would say she was about 10%. She had pretty much forgotten
* how to walk,
* how to make any decisions
* where things were at home, like her bed
* the name of my wife (Pam)
and other things that I am just too saddened to try to recount...
She had declined so much that I was afraid that she would have slipped away last night sometime..
Pam was over visiting her brother, Trist, this evening. He saw her over there during the week and he reported to Pam that his impression was that she looked whipped and beaten. She (Gma) told Trist that she was living there now...
Today, I'd say that she is trying to get up a 50% level, but I don't think she is there yet. She is still disoriented at times, and doesn't know if she is hungry, sleepy or if she wants to sit or sleep in her bed or do anything or if she is having any pain. She is, like, waiting to be told what to do. She is *very* child-like in her conversations now. Her voice audio level is low, *much* lower than when she went in. A nurse once mentioned that she thought Gma was feisty (in the beginning). That and/or interest in things that she once had is rapidly going now. She sounds very meek and mild.
She is sleeping a lot -- more than she was doing before.
Her appetite is also waning, though this evening she suddenly piped up and said that she was hungry! Usually she has said that she might be feeling a little hungry... This was definite! But she didn't eat much -- only half a peanut butter and honey sandwich and a little to drink.
That's a lot of the bad news...Here's some of the good news:
She now talks a lot that she wants to 'go home', to go to the other side, doesn't know how...
If you are inclined to pray, please word it that she can go home (cross the line) quickly and easily --- She wants to go be with her honey and family... Interesting that in so many of our conversations, over the past several months, she has always mentioned that she wants to meet Jesus and thank Him for all that He has done for her. So whether she sees Him first, or is escorted to Him by a family member, I suppose it doesn't really matter...
