Well, it's probably about time to make an effort to catch you all up on Happenings of Gma....
After the Six Days and Five Nights of Hospice Respite Care, Gma was checked into Sunshine Terrace as her new permanent home. She appears to be happy there, with a new close friend that she sits next to during all the meals and visits her in her room [the staff tells me that when they can't find her they look into Gertrude's room and they they are talking and laughing like little school girls]; nurses and staff always comment to me how much they all love her; and she gets the constant care that she deserves.
We needed to sell her home/lot in order to pay for her care. I called the next door neighbors to tell them that we needed to sell. I took them through a two hour walk around the house and yard on an evening and the next morning they made me an offer that I accepted. They are in the process to make it happen in record time. The home is now 'under contract' and things are rolling very rapidly.
We are trying to get everything cleaned out, but know that there are some things that just will be left behind. There is A LOT of things accumulated after 70 years of living there...
Trivia ---
The lot was originally deeded to the first owner in 1872.
2016-1872 = 144 years
Gma moved into the home in 1946
2016 - 1946 = 70 years
SO, Gma has lived in that home for almost half of it's lifetime!!!
Take that homestead longevity!
How long have you lived in your current home?
--------------
I am planning to capture some photos of Gma in her new surroundings and post them here.
Stay tuned...

Glad she's loving her new "digs." So cool to have owned her house for half it's lifetime. God is good how things have progressed to provide for Grandma's care. I pray you, Uncle Duane, will return to good health and live free from any false guilt that you can't care for her anymore. You did a fabulous job and you have found her a wonderful place with excellent care and new friends. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Much love! Charla
