So, as far as I can figure, Gma will remain on Hospice.
In chatting with Gma, here is what I think happened:
* Some time ago the Doctor (Faux) issued a Rx for Gma to have the next stronger pain pill (Norco). It is a very mild narcotic and Gma refused to take it, so it has been sitting around for a while.
* A couple of weeks ago I had lunch with a friend of mine that has had several back surgeries and his Dr prescribes Norco to help him manage his pain. I told Gma about this and she thought about trying the Norco once. She did, and it didn't adversely affect her like she thought it might... Shortly thereafter we got to talking about Tramadol Vs. Norco. She decided that perhaps she'd give it a try and we determined that a 'test' would be in order...
* Without thinking about the Hospice Dr visit approaching, I switched out her pain meds. I just wanted to see if there was any difference between the two. Turns out there is a small difference -- The Norco makes her much more relaxed (sleepy/groggy) and that was the state Gma was in during the Dr Visit!
* Just after their visit I switched her meds back to the Tramadol and Gma is back to her old self. Now we know!

Well, now we know. I guess it was meant to be. Funny story, though! Thanks for your care, suggestions and helping her manage her pain.
